Control Creation
this guide will walk yout through the steps for creating and managing controls within DISPulse
Getting Started – Creating Controls
To get started building your control library, head to the Policies & Controls page under the Compliance & Risk tab.
Once you're on the Policy & Control Management page, click Create Policy in the top right-hand corner to start creating your first policy.
Once you’ve clicked Create Control, the Create New Control form should open. Fill in the form with the relevant Control details, remembering to include classifications, as this is the only opportunity you’ll have to do so. TIP: Copy and paste straight from a formatted Word document for simple content formatting.
Once you’ve added all relevant details and are satisfied with the formatting, click 'Create Control' to save your work and add it to the library.
Now that the control document has been created, we can begin managing it within Pulse. To start, scroll down to the unified policy and Control library and find the control you’ve just created.
On the left-hand side of the control card, you should see four buttons. The buttons, from left to right, are Schedule, View Details, Delete, and Expand. The schedule button takes you to the schedule tab for the control. View Details opens the controls detail panel, where users manage all aspects of the control. The delete button does as advertised, but don’t worry, you’ll be prompted to confirm your choice before anything happens.
Click View Details, or the I icon, on the control card.
This opens the controls details panel, where users can review basic information about the control, edit and review control content, update implementation status, assign personnel and also manage policy governance. Additionally, users can schedule control reviews, set the testing and assessment schedule and review the implementation timeline.
Let’s set a review date for this control to see how managing controls works in DISPulse. First, navigate to the Schedule tab in the control Details Panel, then set a review date, assign one of your users, and then click Save Review Schedule once you’ve finished.
Congratulations, you’ve just finished creating and managing your first Control in DISPulse. Now you know how to create and manage Controls all within DISPulse.
Before you move on, why not head over to the compliance calendar and review the compliance event you just created? If you're still unsure about how to navigate to and use the Compliance Calendar, check out the Compliance Calendar Getting Started guide.
