DISP Membership — Requirements, Levels, and How to Apply
The Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) is the Australian Government's framework for ensuring non-government organisations can be trusted with Defence work. DISP membership is mandatory for any company seeking to access classified Defence information, facilities, or systems. There are four membership levels — Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 — each requiring progressively stronger controls across four security domains: governance and security culture, personnel security, physical security, and ICT security. From 15 November 2025, all DISP members must achieve Essential Eight Maturity Level 2 across ICT systems used to correspond with Defence. Applications are submitted through the Defence Supplier Portal and assessed by the Defence Industry Security Office (DISO). Serious Defence supports organisations at every stage — from initial gap assessment through to application submission and post-accreditation compliance management.
